On the way to the campground we stopped at Devils Tower. Their were several people climbing the side! We
dropped the camper at the campground and went straight to Mount Rushmore. We took a few pictures and
then it started to sprinkle. we headed into the gift shop to wait out the rain. While we were in the gift shop, it
started to hail! The hail was pea-grape size. It hailed 5-10 minutes before it clamed down. DH went to get the
rain jackets for DS and DW. He was soaked when he got back. We took some more pictures and then we
headed out. We drove to Custer State Park. we drove the wildlife loop and saw tons of bison. We also saw
some donkeys. They came into the window! We also saw pronghorns, mule deer, and Prairie dogs. We
continued to Needles Highway, which is still in Custer State Park. It was a very tight and windy road with
neat rock formations all around. The tunnels were very tight, DS stuck his hand out the window and could
touch the wall. We continued to Crazy Hoarse. They charged $27 to get in and we didn’t pay. We still got
a picture though. By this time it was already 8:00 pm. We headed back to Mount Rushmore to see the
night lighting of the monument.
