Ok, Well Friday we headed out for a 3 night weekend at Hopeville Pond State Park in CT.
We were on Rt 32 in Willimantic CT in stop and go traffic. We came to a stop with our 2 month
old 2008 Honda CRV (only 3500 miles on it) in tow 4 down on the back and we felt a bump. It was
such a small bump I said "what was that" DW said "We were just hit" and jumped out of her chair.
I jumped up and went out to look and sure enough a 2005 Jeep Wrangler rear-ended the back of the CRV.
Luckily the jeeps bumper went under the CRVs so it doesn't look all that bad but there is a lot of
damage underneath. On the front, the Blue OX base plate bent and crushed the AC condenser coil.

Oh well it was an accident, The police report stated that it was there fault and we contact
there insurance carrier (Progressive) the same carrier as our RV and then went on to the campground.
When we arrived we were told that our reservation was for the following weekend not this one. Oh no. You
have got to be kidding me. is there anything you can do? They had two sites open and we could pick the
site we wanted. We picked a great site right down the road from the campground beach. We then went on
to have one of the best camping experiences ever. Hopeville pond state park is a real jewel.

This was our first real test of the solar system we were boondocking with no hookups. Even though
we were mostly in the trees with only a small opening to the sky (we got about 1 hour of full sun a day)
we were still at 89% + power when we left. We used everything as normal (I am a little anal about lights)
but we watched a movie each night we ran the fridge the water pump lights etc.. and had no problems.
I really love solar it is quite, clean and reliable.

This park has two beaches, The campground beach which is a small private one and then a public beach
you can get to via trails through the woods. We went to both beaches although I preferred the private
campground beach. We surprised DS with a boogie board and he had a lot of fun learning how to skim across
the water. After a lot of water play, bicycling and hacky sack we were all tired and took turns taking naps
in the hammock.

Hopeville pond state park has made it to our list of revistable campgrounds We will try to visit this campground
annually. The staff were very friendly and accommodating even though it was our error on dates they provided us with
accommodations. I would recommend this park to all.
